Scholarly editorial consultancy

Clear, careful editing without losing the author’s voice

Cambridge Editorial Studio is for writers who need more than automated correction or mechanical proofreading.

We read for meaning as well as language. Grammar, structure, expression, flow and consistency are refined with close attention to the argument, disciplinary context and intended readership.

The result is polished, persuasive prose that still sounds unmistakably like its author.

Who we work with

For academic, professional and public-facing writing

We work with writers whose reputation, publication prospects or professional opportunities depend on presenting their ideas clearly and convincingly.

Whether you are preparing a journal article, doctoral thesis, book manuscript, grant proposal, funding application or professional report, we help you remove distractions, sharpen the prose and present the work at its strongest.

Our service is particularly well suited to complex or multilingual writing, sensitive revisions and projects requiring consistent editorial judgement across a long manuscript.

  • Clarity, concision and paragraph flow
  • Academic tone and register
  • Word and idiom choice, level of repetition and colloquialisms
  • British or American English consistency

Thoughtful editorial guidance

Our feedback goes beyond improving a single document. We aim to help you recognise recurring patterns, strengthen your writing and approach future projects with greater confidence.

Why writers choose us

Editorial judgement that goes beyond correcting the surface

Large agencies and automated tools can identify errors. Our work goes further: we consider meaning, argument, register, disciplinary convention and the expectations of the intended reader, then make careful changes that strengthen the text without flattening its voice.
